Nuoyan Rice Wine is a modern Chinese rice wine brand headquartered in Beijing, It was founded in 2010 by winemaker Huang Yu, after three years of development, Nuoyan now has 13 unique rice wines and has established 2 rice wine bars in Beijing.
What’s in our name“ Nuoyan” ? “Nou” means glutinous rice, and “Yan” means language . It was given by a zen master and his calligraphy of " "Nuoyan" 糯言 is hanging in Nuoyan Rice Wine House Beixinqiao and it became one of our logos.
Nuoyan uses high -quality ecologically grown mountain rice, natural spring water from 120 meters deep well and
winemaker's special herbal yeast, as well as a combination of of traditional methods, along with sate-of-the-art winemaking techniques, to give you a brand new rice wine experience.
The Founder
Huang Yu, the founder of Nuoyan Rice Wine started his career as a graphic designer after graduating from The Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University. He devoted himself into winemaking in 2009, and established his own rice wine winery in China’s Fujian province in 2013. Rice wine is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks in China, it's something that can be appreciated by all the Chinese and foreigners too. However, most of the Chinese rice wines were rustic and are lacked the standards needed for today's market.
As an enthusiast of winemaking, Mr. Huang desired to revitalize the life of Chinese rice wine with modern design and branding. He travelled and tasted rice wines throughout China and Japan, a decision of making his own wine was made.
It took a long six years of hard work, development and patience to get Nuoyan just right, and it became popular. Mr. Huang’s design of wine bottles and labels are in a contemporary Chinese style, you may find the packaging is highly appealing and gift ready. Huang Yu also created an environment for people to escape the fast pace of modern life and to open their senses to the wonderful world of Nuoyan Rice Wine.
